HS State Baseball: Ed-Co Falls In First Round, Beckman Gets Set For Their Return

The Ed-Co Baseball teams’ history making season came to an end Saturday night after falling to West Sioux of Hawarden in a Class 1A Quarterfinal. The Vikings were edged 3-2 in a game they battled to come back in after down 3-0 but came up short of pulling the upset over the 3rd-ranked Falcons. Eighth-year head coach Aaron Hamman shared his perspective:

The 2016 Vikings became the first Ed-Co summer Baseball squad to reach the state tournament and set the school record for wins, ending with a 21-13 mark. Coach Hamann comments on how special a season it was:

The Vikings will say goodbye to 7 seniors and assistant coach Rod Varner who is retiring after 8 seasons.

The Class 2A portion of the 2016 State Baseball Tournament begins today. The Beckman Blazers will compete in their Quarterfinal at 5pm. The 2nd-seeded 24-17 Blazers take on the No. 7 seed 28-9 Pleasantville. For Beckman it is their 17th trip to the tournament, which ranks them third all-time in the state and their 27 tourney wins have them 3rd on the list as well. Beckman junior outfielder Sam Stelken who made the trip the last time the Blazers were there in 2014 when he was Freshman, describes the incredible experience:
