HS Football: West Delaware Begins New Campaign

The high school football season officially kicked off Monday with the first day of practice, and the West Delaware football team who is coming off a 12-1 campaign in 2015 looks to get back to work to start the 2016 season. Hawk head coach Doug Winkowitsch who enters his 13th season at the helm says he excited for the season to get underway and that this years squad has had a great off season:

The Hawks who advanced to the class 3A semifinals last season before falling to the eventual champion Pella will look to that experience early on in the season to help develop some of the underclassmen and Winkowitsch comments that the kids have worked really hard to this point:

West Delaware will open the season at Independence for a non district match-up and Winkowitsch says there is a lot of work to be done to get ready for that week one contest:

The Hawks will host their annual Silver Bowl scrimmage on August 19th and week one of the season will start on August 26th.
