As all the activities of homecoming week at West Delaware are coming to an end, it’s now time for the football team to try and remain unbeaten as tonight they host Central DeWitt at Brown Field in Manchester. The Hawks are 4-0 and 2-0 in class 3A district 4 play as they will entertain the Sabers who come in 1-3 and 0-2 in district play with their triple option offense, an offense that West Delaware head coach Doug Winkowitsch says is a tough one to defend:
On the offensive side of the ball the Hawks will rely on the offensive linemen who have continuously gotten better with each game and Winkowitsch has been very pleased with what they have allowed the team to do so far this season:
Even with homecoming this week Winkowitsch has been pleased with how the kids have remained focused on the game itself while still enjoying all of the activities throughout the week:
The Hawks and Sabers will kick off tonight at around 7:15 and you can hear the game right here on Mix 94.7 KMCH and at KMCH.com.
The North Linn football team received word yesterday that Postville has forfeited their game scheduled for tonight due to several of their players being diagnosed with Impetigo. Postville superintendent Tim Dugger says there is no threat to the student body as the athletes infected have been placed on antibiotics. Impetigo is a highly contagious skin infection that is treatable with an antibiotic and recovery time is about three days, but for the safety of the Postville and North Linn football players in a contact sport like football Dugger says the decision was made to forfeit the game. With the forfeit North Linn will be awarded a 17-0 win which moves them to 3-2 on the season and 1-2 in class A district 4.
