Last season the East Buchanan football team qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2009, and tomorrow night they could move one step closer to earning their 17th trip to the playoffs in school history as they host Ed-Co for homecoming in Winthrop. The Buccaneers who are 5-2 this season but more importantly are 4-1 in class A district 4 will face an Ed-Co team who is 3-4 and 3-2 in district play. East Buchanan is currently in a three way tie for first place in the district with Lisbon and Wapsie Valley and is coming off a 58-0 win over Alburnett last week and head coach Jerry Alden was very happy with the way his team has played in the final stretch of the season especially against Alburnett:
With the three way tie at the top and East Buchanan, Wapsie Valley, and Lisbon all favored to win their last two games the tie breaker could come down to the 17 point differential which currently puts the Bucs in the playoffs, but Alden has told his team that even with the homecoming festivities this week they need to keep focused on their main goal:
Ed-Co is coming off of a 32-22 loss to North Linn last week and still has a shot of making the playoffs with two wins of their own along with some help from other teams in the district, but head coach James Rochford says that his team needs to focus on the things they can control and that is winning the final two games:
The game tomorrow night will kick off at 7:00 and is this week’s area online and playback game of the week and can be heard on KMCH.com and played back after the West Delaware vs Marion contest with Dan McClean and Dylan Slattery.
