HS Football: West Delaware Ready For Final Home Game

The 10th ranked West Delaware football team will host Marion in their last regular season home game tonight at Brown Field in Manchester. The Hawks who are 6-1 and 4-1 in class 3A district 4 bounced back last week as they downed Dubuque Wahlert 42-7 in Dubuque and West Delaware head coach Doug Winkowitsch was pleased with the way his team responded after the week six loss:

There will be plenty on the line in tonight’s game as Marion comes in at 5-2 with an identical 4-1 district record as they upset Clear Creek-Amana last week in a 15-14 overtime thriller, and will be looking for another upset and try to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2013 and first for new head coach Tim Lovell. After tonight’s game there will be two teams in the district with just one loss after Davenport Assumption knocked off Clear Creek-Amana last night 33-20, so the loser of tonight’s game will need a lot of help next week to keep their playoff hopes alive, but Winkowitsch says he likes the situation his team is in:

18 Hawks will play their final regular season game at Brown Field and will be recognized before the game and Winkowitsch says this senior group have been great leaders for the past four years:

The Hawks and Indians are set to kick off at around 7:15 and you can hear the game right here on Mix 94.7 and on KMCH.com with Jamie Vaske, Aaron Plein, and Bill Logan with sports director Jon Swisher getting the night started with the football Friday night pregame show at around 6:45.
