HS Volleyball: West Delaware Falls Short In Tournament Final

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The WaMaC conference volleyball tournament wrapped last night in Mount Vernon with the Class 3A 2nd-ranked Hawks falling to Class 4A No. 3 Marion 2-1 in the title match. It was a long night of close intense volleyball for the Hawks who slid past Western Dubuque and Independence in their first two matches to set up the re-match in the final contest with Indians. The Hawks were their 7th conference tournament championship and 3rd in a row as Marion avenged last seasons loss. Hawks head coach Brett Mather gave credit to their quality competition but believes his team can play better:

The Hawks who are the Class 4A state defending champions will now rest and prepare for their postseason run which begins with first round regional play next Wednesday night at home facing Oelwein.
