The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says it happened at Citizens State Bank around 8:40 am. Two armed males wearing masks and dark colored clothing entered the bank on First Street and displayed a knife and handgun. They took an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled on foot. Authorities say they don’t know which direction the bank robbers headed.
Citizens State Bank President Audrey Savage says no one was injured.
Maquoketa Valley Superintendent Doug Tuetken says the district took precautionary measures and locked down all of its facilities. The lockdown was lifted around 10:15 am once authorities informed the school district that it was no longer needed.
The male suspects were described as average build and height around five-foot-seven or five-foot-eight. One of them was wearing a jacket with “Illinois” across the back.
