Masonville Man Found Guilty of Sexually Abusing Girl for Eight Years

jarrettA Masonville man has been found guilty of sexually abusing a girl for several years.

39-year old Joshua Jarrett, formerly of Winthrop, was found guilty of Second Degree Sexual Abuse, Third Degree Sexual Abuse and Avoidance of Prosecution by a Buchanan County jury on Tuesday.

The Buchanan County Attorney’s Office says the victim, who is now an adult, testified that Jarrett began sexually abusing her when she was six years old. She says the abuse continued for eight years, from 2002 to 2010.

Jarrett was charged with Avoidance of Prosecution after he fled the state upon learning that the victim had reported the sexual abuse to authorities in the summer of 2014. He was eventually apprehended in Texas seven months later.

Jarrett’s sentencing hearing has been set for November 29th.
