Vera Fink-Buehler – Manchester

vera-fink-buehler, Iowa, died on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at ABCM West Campus in Independence. She was born on July 22, 1931, in Lansing, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Protzman) Verdon. Vera attended Immaculate Conception grade school and graduated from Lansing Public High School.

In 1948, Vera was united in marriage to Chester “Chet” Fink. Three children were born to this union. Together they lived in Manchester. Chet died in 1974.

On December 28, 1998, Vera was united in marriage to Dale Buehler. Together they lived at Linden Acers at Lake Delhi. Dale died on April 2, 2002, and Dave and Vicki son and daughter-in-law, built her a home at Cozy Cove on Lake Delhi.

Over the years Vera owned and operated V-Hive restaurant in Ryan, was employed at Area Eight Agency on Aging, and was a cook at the Senior Meal Center in Manchester.

Vera was a member St. John’s Catholic Church in Delhi. She loved being with family and enjoyed entertaining, and providing food for everyone.

Survivors include one son, Dave (Vicki) Fink of Manchester; one sister, Edith (James) Pitts of Spencer; daughter-in-law, Donna Fink of Manchester; son-in-law, John Smith of Lake Delhi; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Chester Fink and Dale Buehler; two children, Linda Smith and Chet J. Fink; six brothers, Charles, Vince, Harold, Floyd, Dan and Tom Verdon.

The family will be directing memorials to the Delhi Fire Department.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2016, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Delhi, Iowa. Celebrant: Rev. John Kremer

Visitation: 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Delhi, Iowa, Scripture Service at 5:00 p.m. Also visitation after 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the church.

Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery – Manchester, Iowa.
