Arla Ruth Ketelsen, 99, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood Iowa. She was born on March 3, 1917, the daughter of Emil and Amanda (Ketelsen) Paulsen. Arla was raised in rural Clinton County, Iowa, and attended rural country school.
On February 10, 1937, Arla was united in marriage to Anson Carl Ketelsen. After their marriage they lived in Lost Nation and then moved to Cedar Rapids. In 1984 they moved to Manchester. Anson passed away in 1986.
Arla loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She also loved to dance. Arla was an excellent cook.
Survivors include three children, Don (Ellen) Ketelsen of Clinton, Darrell (Ida Mae) Ketelsen of Ankeny, and Doris (Clyde) Scovel of Manchester; 11 grandchildren; and many great-and-great-great-grandchildren.
Arla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Diane Carter; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Ray, Harvey, and Arnie Paulsen.
