Delaware County Voter Turnout Up in 2016

vote-here-signLocal voter turnout was up this year.

County Auditor Carla Becker says more Delaware County residents turned out for this year’s presidential election than in 2012.

79-percent of the county’s eligible voters participated this year compared to about 74-percent four years ago – that’s a five-percent difference.

Nearly six thousand residents waited until Election Day Tuesday to cast their ballot, while about three and a half thousand residents voted absentee. Becker says most of the voters at the polls chose to vote the old-fashioned with a traditional paper ballot, while eight-percent of voters used the new touch-screen voting machines.
