Clayton County Inmate Dies After Found Unresponsive

breckenfelderThe Clayton County inmate who was found unresponsive in his cell last week has died.

32-year old Mike Breckenfelder of Dyersville passed away Friday at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.  He was a 2003 graduate of West Delaware High School and was most recently employed at Henderson Manufacturing.

Breckenfelder was being held in the Clayton County Jail on several charges, including domestic abuse and possessing burglary tools. Jail staff found him unresponsive last Monday afternoon and after he was revived with CPR, he was airlifted to the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation.

Services for Breckenfelder will be held Wednesday in Manchester.
