Accomplishments, acknowledgments, and awards … that was how the Edgewood-Colesburg School Board meeting began on Monday, November 14.
On that particular evening, the Ed-Co School Board recognized various students for their wonderful attributes in a variety of school activities.
Very recently, Morgan and Marissa Vorwald, along with Lexi Ihde, attended the Loras Honor Band Competition.
For Ed-Co Volleyball, Brylyn Clute and Megan Zieser received 1st Team Honors, Maddy Harris was recognized for 2nd Team Honors, and Kelsi Askeland and Mallory Zieser were both Honorable Mentions.
In high school football, Brady Helle was a 1st Team Honor, while Killian Welsh, Preston Rockford, and Elliott Meyer achieved 2nd Team Honors. Ben Ernst and Payton Rochford were Honorable Mentions as well for Ed-Co football.
And for Edgewood-Colesburg Cross Country, Jacob Wessel was a UIC Champ and placed 12th at the State level. Hanna Hess was 3rd at UIC and 3rd at the State level, while Delany Bergan was 15th at UIC, and Ashley Clinton was 21st at UIC.
The Edgewood-Colesburg School Board also approved the submission of a request for Allowable Growth for late open enrollment students. Recently, the Ed-Co school district qualified for this, as there were an additional seven students enrolled for the 2016-2017 school year, that were not enrolled last year!
A few new hires for the Edgewood-Colesburg School District were approved at the recent meeting … Dawn Askeland will be the Junior High Girls’ Basketball Coach, Roger Wright will be a Split Assistant for Girls’ Basketball, and Jenny Lange will also be an additional Split Assistant for Girls’ Basketball.
Other items in discussion were the recent participation in the Iowa State School Board Convention and setting up a work session to look into early separation plans.
