City of Manchester’s Purchase of Smitty’s Property Slightly Delayed

The City of Manchester’s purchase of the old Smitty’s property has been delayed a week or two.

City officials say they had planned to close last week, but the State had placed a lien on the property. That lien needs to be cleaned up before the sale can go through.

The City’s offer of 235-thousand dollars was accepted this fall by Kerndt Brothers Savings Bank, who took over the property after Smitty’s Tire and Appliance suddenly closed last year.
