The West Delaware Hawk Girls and Boys Bowling teams will begin their competition part of the new season this afternoon hosting Independence. The girls lose four members of their starting line-up who helped the squad to a 11-2 record and a runner-up finish at the state tournament last season. It was the second year in a row they were runner-ups in Class 1A and came away with the third second place state finish in school program history in the fourth trip to state in the past six seasons. Hawks head coach Ken Boesenberg talks about the shape of the starting rotation at this point:

The first meet on the schedule is against WaMaC conference and highway 20 rival Independence then the Cedar Rapids Prairie Bakers tournament follows on Saturday:
The Hawk Boys coached by John Chapman and Bob Morris were 9-3 last season and just missed a state tournament berth. A good amount of varsity experience returns and numbers in the program are around 20 boys out, coach Chapman is very optimistic amount the potential of this group:
