It was a pin or be pinned dual in Dyersville last night as West Delaware defeated Beckman 60-24 as all of the wrestled matches in the dual resulted in fall. The meet started at 106 pounds and the Hawks had four straight falls started by freshmen Luke Farmer and Zach Fisher followed by pins from sophomores Ryan Phillips and Casey Guyer. The Blazers would get their first of four pins at 138 pounds as junior Jake Recker pinned West Delaware’s Cole Engel in 1:28, and later in the dual Beckman picked up three straight falls to cut the Hawk’s lead to 12 but that was as close as they would get in a dual meet that lasted just 45 minutes. West Delaware head coach Jeff Voss says he liked the improvement that he saw in some of the matches:
West Delaware will wrestle today at the Battle of Waterloo inside Young Arena and Voss is looking forward to the six duals they will have in the two day 32 team dual tournament:
West Delaware, Independence, and Western Dubuque will all wrestle at 9:00 am, 11:00 am, and 1:00 pm today and Jamie Vaske will provide live updates after the completion of each of the duals on KMCH.
