Two Monticello Children Die in SUV/Semi Collision

Authorities say two Monticello children were the victims in a deadly collision in Anamosa Sunday afternoon.

The Iowa State Patrol says the two people who died were 8-year old Diamond Hunter and 6-year old Donald Hunter.

The children were riding in a SUV that slid through a stop sign and hit a semi. It happened at the intersection of Highway 151 and 215th Avenue shortly after 2 pm Sunday.

The crash injured three others in the SUV. The driver, 32-year old Brandon Hunter of Monticello, was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. 31-year old Molli Hunter and 13-year old Hope Hunter, both of Monticello, were airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The semi driver, 41-year old Ryan Powers of Horicon, Wisconsin, was not hurt.

The accident remains under investigation.
