Authorities have made an arrest in connection to a break-in at an Independence business last year.
Independence Police say last August, a local resident had discovered the window to the rear door of “Total Image” Hair Salon had been broken inward. They called police, who investigated the scene and discovered over one thousand dollars worth of various salon inventory items and cash had been stolen from the business.
Blood stains were found inside the salon, which was processed for evidence and sent to the DCI laboratory.
In November, the DCI lab was able to match the DNA with a DNA profile that had been collected from an unrelated case in September.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of 18-year old Autumn Meiborg. Meiborg has been charged with Second Degree Burglary, Second Degree Theft and Fourth Degree Criminal Mischief.
