A car led authorities on a chase in the Marion area early Wednesday.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy tried pulling over the vehicle on East Post Road shortly after 1 am, but instead the car sped up into the Marion city limits.
Authorities discovered through a license plate check that the car was reported stolen out of Wisconsin.
A short chase ensued through the areas of Marion before the car stopped near the intersection of 10th Street and 33rd Avenue in Marion – that’s when the driver and passenger jumped out of the car and tried running away.
They were both apprehended a short time later. The driver, 23-year old Diante Dickens of Cedar Rapids, faces several charges, including Second Degree Theft and Driving with a Suspended License.
The passenger, 29-year old Ashley Pledge of Marion, has been charged with Interference with Official Acts.
