Four new wind turbines are proposed to go up southwest of Manchester, but Delaware County is putting the project on hold until they get a few questions answered.
Last year, the County Board of Supervisors had approved four construction permits for Optimum Renewables to build four wind towers in Prairie Township directly north of 230th Street and west of 140th Avenue. The company is now asking for an amendment to those permits.
They want to change the name of the project – which isn’t a big deal – but Delaware County Engineer Anthony Bardgett says he noticed another change in the agreement the company sent to him. The height of the proposed wind towers is almost forty feet shorter than what the County originally approved.
The Delaware County Supervisors have some concerns with the company. Optimum Renewables is the same company that built the three wind towers near Earlville a couple years ago – which still are not running – and when the County has tried to contact the company to find out when they will start running, they never get a response.
Optimum Renewables has projects in other counties too – and apparently, they’re also on hold.
The County says they’ll table the amendment until they sort out these issues.
