HS Wrestling: Hawks Split WaMaC Double Dual

West Delaware split a WaMaC conference double dual last night inside the Seedorff Gymnasium in Manchester as they took to the mats against Mount Vernon and Anamosa. The Hawks opened with Mount Vernon and fell behind 9-0 after two matches but back to back wins from junior Tristan Voelker and freshman Jack Neuhaus to close the deficit to two, but Mount Vernon would win seven of the final 10 matches, six of those coming by fall as they went on to win the dual 49-23. West Delaware head coach Jeff Voss says Mount Vernon is a great team and they knew it would be a tough dual:

In the final dual of the night West Delaware took on a short handed Anamosa team who forfeited nine weights in the dual but the Hawks would win three out of the five wrestled matches and defeated the Blue Raiders 69-12. Anamosa also fall to Mount Vernon in the first dual 73-6. West Delaware will travel to wrestle in the Louisa Muscatine tournament on Saturday and Voss says Louisa is a good tournament compete in before heading into the postseason:
