The Class 2A 5th-ranked 24-1 North Linn Girls Basketball team advanced back to the state tournament with a convincing 47-18 win over Rockford inside Aplington-Parkersburg High School last night. The Lynx jumped out to a 13-0 lead early and never looked back as they led 25-4 at halftime. The offense netted 8 3-pointers on the night. Junior Ashley Tull led the way with 16 points, 12 for Grace Flanagan, 8 for Kylie Kurt, 6 for Anna LeGrand, 3 for Abby Flanagan and 2 for Emma Ware. Tull talks about the great support by the Lynx community and how excited she is to get the opportunity to play at the state tournament again:
The Lynx will go back to state for the 3rd time in 4 seasons, 4th time as North Linn and 7th appearance representing the North Linn School District since 1945. The Lynx will open up play in a Class 2A quarterfinal at 6:45pm next Monday evening as the 5-seed and will face the 4-seed 22-2 Western Christian of Hull.
The Cascade Cougars will return to state for the first time in 2 years as they downed Montezuma 49-34 in Marengo. 22-2 Cascade gets the 7-seed and takes on second-seeded 24-0 Central-Decatur at 10am next Tuesday morning.
Class 1A top-rated Springville beat Grand View Christian 57-39.
In Boys Basketball last night the Class 3A No. 1 West Delaware Hawks improved to 22-0 with a 65-35 win over Clear Creek-Amana inside Seedorff Gymnasium. Hawks head coach Matt Uthoff comments on the play from his teams second first round win in the past two seasons:
The Hawks will face Vinton-Shellsburg at 7pm back at Seedorff Gym Thursday night.
Independence had their season end to Forest City 52-49.
Western Dubuque also closed out their season at 9-13 with a 57-49 loss to Cedar Rapids Jefferson.

The number one team in Class 1A 22-0 North Linn will compete in a District Semifinal at home hosting Easton Valley.
The Class 4A 7th-rated Western Dubuque Bobcats will entertain North Scott in Epworth for a Regional Final. WD will be looking for their fourth trip to state in a row and 6th in program history. That contest can be heard on KMCH and KMCH.com.
