The 2017 High School Girls Basketball State Tournament gets underway Monday morning with class 1A play. Top-ranked 22-2 Springville will face 19-6 West Burlington of Notre Dame at 10am. Our featured area coverage team involved in the second Class 2A game of the tourney at 6:45pm this evening is 5th-rated 24-1 battling 22-2 Western Christian. Thirteenth-year head coach Brian Wheatley knows it will be a tough challenge against the WOlfpack but he believes his team is up to it:

The Lynx are making their 7th overall state appearance in school district history, 4th as North Linn, and 3rd in the last 4 seasons. All the coverage around 6:30pm this evening live on KMCH and KMCH.com with Ryan Schlader and North Linn Boys Assistant coach Travis Griffith.

Our second game our doubleheader has the Class 3A top-rated 23-0 West Delaware Hawks taking on Center Point-Urbana inside the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. Fourth-year head coach Matt Uthoff wants his team to continue focusing playing their game and not worry about the hype and surroundings:

The Hawks will be playing in the program’s 8th substate contest, all since 1998, looking for the 4th state trip in school program history since 1999 and first since 2008. All the coverage from CR live on KMCH and KMCH.com with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Bill Logan around 8pm.
