Lynx and Hawks Ready For Semifinal Contests

It’s semifinal Thursday at the High School Boys Basketball State Tournament in Des Moines for Class 1A, 2A and 3A teams. Our two area coverage schools in play, North Linn and West Delaware, are slated for 10:30am and 8:15pm start times.

In Class 1A, the top ranked and seeded 26-0 North Linn Lynx will face 4th-seeded 25-2 Gladbrook-Reinbeck. The Lynx got the program’s first state tournament win since 1977 in its’ third appearance at state on Monday afternoon with a 54-49 victory over Maple Valley-Anthon Oto. All the coverage live on KMCH and with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Lynx Girls head coach Brian Wheatley at 10:15am.

The Class 3A 2nd-seeded 25-0 West Delaware Hawks take on the 6th seed 16-9 Sergeant Bluff-Luton who upset Pella in round one. The Hawks took down Dallas Center-Grimes 66-58 on Tuesday evening for the program’s first state W since 2000 and became the winningest team in boys basketball program history surpassing the 1999-2000 squad.
