McDowell To Wrestle For Iowa State

Maquoketa Valley senior Alec McDowell recently committed to wrestle for Iowa State University for new head coach Kevin Dresser. McDowell who went 49-2 on his way to a state title had been committed to wrestle at the University of Wisconsin Platteville but when Dresser was hired he contacted McDowell and after a visit to Ames he knew where he wanted to be this fall:

McDowell says it was a tough decision to change schools but he feels very confident that he made the right decision:

In the past couple of weeks coach Dresser has been building his coaching staff which consists of former national champions and international wrestlers and McDowell is looking forward to the experience that the coaching staff brings to the wrestling room:

McDowell finished his career at Maquoketa Valley with a 171-30 record with a state title along with a third place finish as a junior and he is excited to be apart of the great changes going on at Iowa State:
