HS Girls Golf: First Round Regional Results

First round regional high school girls golf was held around the state yesterday. The top teams and individual qualifiers earned their spot in regional final play next Monday.

Class 3A-

Near Manchester at Pin Oak:

Monticello placed 4th with a 420, West Delaware 5th with 436, Beckman a 463 for 6th and 7th Cascade with a 465. Monticello junior Lauren Ries was the medalist with an 82, Rose Strang of Cascade was 2nd with an 83.

In Clinton:

Anamosa moves on as they shot a 400 to finish 2nd behind Vinton-Shellsburg. Junior Hannah Houska finished 2nd with a 93.

Class 2A-

In Nashua:

North Linn placed 9th with a 494.

Near Fairbank:

Maquoketa Valley was fourth as they gathered a 453.

Class 1A-

Near Strawberry Point at Backbone’s course:

The host Starmont was the top team with a 382, East Buchanan came in 2nd with a 394. Ed-Co missed qualifying as they placed fourth with a 446, 6th with a 496 was Central Elkader. Starmont’s Taygen Shilhanek was the medalist with an 85, Karen Sornson ofEast Buchanan 2nd with a 93, Delaney Baumgartner of Starmont 4th with a 95 and 5th East Buc’s Kayla Dudley with a 97.
