West Delaware High School Names New AD

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The West Delaware County Community School District has hired their next high school Assistant Principal and Activities Director with official school board approval to come at their next meeting on June 12th. Matt Weis is set to take over for Mike Morrison who resigned in mid-April to accept the same position at the recently built Iowa City Liberty High School in North Liberty. Second-year WD high school principal Tim Felderman talks about the appreciation and respect he has for Morrison:

Felderman talks about the process of finding Morrison’s replacement and what they were looking for:

Weis is a 1998 graduate of East Central of Miles, which is now a part of the Easton Valley school district in Preston. He graduated from UNI in 2003 and has been at Central City for the past twelve years including being the head football coach for several seasons and Activities Director for the last six years. Felderman says it was a very important factor that Weis has had the AD experience:

Felderman says Weis is determined to help carry on the successful tradition of Hawk activities and athletics:

Felderman comments that Weis was very impressive with his energetic passion of having a plan of what he needs to do to get off to a positive start at WD:

Weis and his wife Alisa reside in Cedar Rapids with their two children, 9-year old son Kinnick and 2-year old daughter Emma. Weis will officially take over AD responsibilities on July 1st.
