The unveiling of the new Delaware County Veterans Memorial has been pushed back until later this year.
Project organizer and World War Two veteran Dr. John Tyrrell of Manchester says they had hoped to have the project finished in time for a dedication ceremony on the Fourth of July, but it looks like it will have to wait until November.
The new veterans memorial will honor past military personnel from across Delaware County and those veterans who have ties to Delaware County. Tyrrell says there is a veteran you want to honor, there’s still time for you to get their name included on the memorial in exchange for a donation.
If you’re interested in making a donation, you can stop by Community Savings Bank.
The memorial, which will be known as the “Freedom Is Not Free” Veterans Memorial, will be located in southeast corner of Baum Park in Manchester.
