The Class 3A 11th-ranked West Delaware Softball team improved their mark to 22-10 with a doubleheader sweep over Central DeWitt by the score of 5-1 both games. Macey Kleitsch got the game 1 victory while Emily Klostermann earned the game 2 win. The Hawks tallied 9 hits on the night but the pitching and defense made it last by only allowing 8 hits and 2 runs. Game 2 was highlighted by back-to-back home runs in the 4th inning. A 2-run shot by Maleah Georgen, her first of the season and 4th in her varsity career. Then Macey Kleitsch connected on a solo shot, her first of the season and 2nd of her career. Fourth-year Hawks head coach Tiffany Rave talks about her teams effort as they improved their home record to a perfect 10-0 on the season:
The offensive struggles at times this season has been a concern for coach Rave and company and it’s something they have talked about a lot:
The Hawks upped their WaMaC conference East division record to 7-3 with 2 importanr games coming up next Monday night at home against the first place team currently, Mount Vernon. This weekend the Hawks will head to the annual Ames Tournament. Taking on the host team, North Scott, Gilbert and Sioux City East.
