Authorities Looking for Motorcyclist Involved in High-Speed Chase

Authorities are still looking for a motorcyclist who led them on a high speed chase into Delaware County and then fled into a cornfield near Ryan.

The Marion Police Department says on Saturday night, officers tried pulling over a motorcycle on Highway 13 that was reported as possibly stolen. Instead of stopping, the motorcycle sped up, leading Marion Police and Linn County Sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit until just north of Coggon.

Deputies say that’s when the motorcyclist tried turning onto County Road D-42 and lost control, fleeing into a nearby cornfield. Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies and Manchester Police joined the Iowa State Patrol and Marion Police in trying to search for the suspect, but they weren’t able to find him.

The motorcyclist is described as a white man, possibly 30 to 40 years old, medium build with shorter dark brown hair and a dark brown beard. He was wearing black sunglasses, a black sleeveless T-shirt, gray stonewash jeans and cowboy boots.

Anyone with information should call the Marion Police Department or Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
