Class 3A and 4A postseason baseball play began on Friday night around the state.
The West Delaware Hawks improved their record to 22-14 with a 3-1 win over Independence. The Hawks were being no-hit until the 4th inning with they got 4 hits in a row and scored all 3 of their runs. Dubuque Wahlert will be the Hawks opponent tonight back at Exide Field as the Golden Eagles beat Union in the first game 9-3. Wahlert is 24-15 and beat the Hawks in Manchester in the first game of the season back on May 23rd, 4-1. Fourth-year head coach Nate Lahr talks about the match-up:

Also Friday night, Western Dubuque was taken down by Davenport Central 5-2 in 10 innings at Farley. The Bobcats finished at 32-7.
Saturday night, three area coverage schools advanced to Substate Finals on Tuesday night. Class 2A No. 7 Beckman upped their record to 28-11 with a 5-3 victory over Monticello. The Blazers reached their 27th Substate with their 27th district championship since 1968. They will face #6 Cascade who has a 25-7 mark now after a 10-0 5 inning victory. That game will be at Exide Fieldat 7pm in Manchester with coverage from KMCH Sports. Class 1A top-ranked North Linn is now 40-2 after a 9-1 win against Alburnett. The Lynx will take on IMS at Cedar Rapids Prairie tomorrow night.
