Lake Delhi Residents Enjoying First Full Summer Back

Lake Delhi residents are enjoying their first full summer of having the lake back.

The community celebrated with its “Dam Right, We’re Back” Bash on Saturday, with live music, food vendors and activities at several different sites around the lake.

Longtime Lake Delhi resident Randy Pilkington was there, soaking it all in and not taking a moment for granted. He remembers all too well the series of tragic events on July 23rd and July 24th, 2010… which led up to the breach of the Lake Delhi dam.

The days, weeks and months that followed the breach were hard for Lake Delhi residents. But Pilkington says he knew it would take time and patience before things returned to normal.

And now, seven years later, something as simple as being able to put a boat on the lake or even just looking out at the water means everything to Pilkington. And hundreds of fellow Lake Delhi residents and visitors feel the same.

Lake Delhi’s celebration on Saturday wrapped up with a fireworks display – with dozens of boats enjoying the view from the water.
