New Iowa Dairy Royalty Crowned

Iowa Dairy Princess Katelyn Goldsmith of Earlville crowned new dairy royalty at the Iowa State Fair last night.

The new Iowa Dairy Princess is Rachel Grober of Ionia.

The newly-crowned Alternate Dairy Princess is Josie Buddenberg of Decorah. Ally Bierschenk of Van Horne was named Miss Congeniality.

And while none of the five local young women who competed in the contest were named the winner, one of them did receive a special honor. 18-year old Cynthia Hamlett of Aurora, representing Fayette County, was recognized for her performance in the public speaking portion of the contest.

The other local contestants were Brittany Putz of New Vienna, Reba Gaul of Peosta, Grace Gadient of Anamosa and Jordan Kalenske of Fairbank.

Goldsmith and the outgoing Alternate Dairy Princess, Shana Hilgerson of Elkader, will end their reign on the last day of the Iowa State Fair. The new royalty will begin their duties on September 1st.
