Dundee Awarded Grant for Work on Old School Building

The City of Dundee has received a grant to do some work on the old school building in town.

The DNR Derelict Building Grant Program has awarded the City ten-thousand dollars to remove asbestos from the abandoned building.

The total cost to remove asbestos and demolish the former Dundee School Building is around 132-thousand dollars.

Dundee City Clerk Marge Horstman says they’re also applying for the DNR Brownfield grant worth 25-thousand dollars. And they’re trying to find any other grants to help with the cost.

Once the building is demolished, the City will work on enhancements to the ball diamond area, including parking. They’d also like to put up a new community center in Dundee.
