Winthrop Woman Ending Reign as Iowa State Fair Queen

This past year has been a whirlwind for Iowa State Fair Queen Amanda Riniker. The East Buchanan graduate from Winthrop was crowned at last year’s Iowa State Fair – and she told KMCH it’s a moment she’ll never forget.

Riniker’s life is busy enough as a Neuroscience major at Wartburg College, where she’s also involved in track, volunteering and several other organizations. But somehow she’s still managed to find time to travel the state of Iowa representing the Iowa State Fair.

And for those little girls admiring her crown, she’s got some advice…

Several young women are hoping to follow in Riniker’s footsteps as the next Iowa State Fair Queen. This year’s local contestants include Madalynn Burke of Delaware County, Baylee Kleitsch of Buchanan County, Mackenzie Vlazny of Clayton County, Jacqueline Ehrlich of Dubuque County, Rachel Schmitt of Fayette County, Alexis Costell of Linn County and Shay Stephen of Jones County.

The new Iowa State Fair Queen will be crowned Saturday night.
