Two Local Residents in Governor’s Charity Steer Show

A new record was set at the Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show and Sale at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday.

The sale generated $271,000 for the Ronald McDonald Houses of Iowa.

The winner was Governor Kim Reynolds, showing a steer owned by Cody Von Glan of Vail.

A young man from Dyersville, Alec Gotto, won the People’s Choice Award. Gotto has earned much respect for showing cattle while in an electric wheelchair.

And Iowa Secretary of Ag Bill Northey was the showmanship winner.

Delaware County resident Adam Monaghan and his steer Bruno were also chosen to be in the Governor’s Charity Steer Show. Monaghan’s steer was shown by the CEO of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
