The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is benefiting from a couple of drones they added to their workforce this summer.
Sheriff Marty Fisher tells our coverage partner KCRG that he purchased the two drones with drug forfeiture money.
The drones have been helping the deputies cover large areas of Fayette County that aren’t easily accessible by vehicle or by foot. Because the county has such a diverse terrain, Fisher says the drones will be particularly useful for search and rescue missions. Volga State Park is just one area the Sheriff’s Office has had issues in the past.
The drones will also cut down on search times and can be used to collect evidence.
