Friday is the deadline to add a veteran’s name to Delaware County’s new veterans memorial in time for the November dedication.
The Freedom Is Not Free Memorial will be located in the southeast corner of Baum Park in Manchester. It will have two granite walls that will honor our service men and women.
The public can add a veteran’s name to the wall in exchange for a donation.
Organizer and World War Two veteran Dr. John Tyrrell says if you’d like your veteran’s name included in time for the November 11th dedication, they must have the name by this Friday, September 1st.
A $100 contribution qualifies you as a supporter of the memorial and allows you to be recognized on a granite paver in the memorial plaza. For an additional $50 donation, you can recognize the name of one service man or woman. An additional $50 contribution per name allows you to honor additional veterans.
If you are interested in making a donation to have a veteran’s name etched into the memorial, contact Dr. Tyrrell at 608-2227 or Barb Topping at Community Savings Bank.
