The West Delaware boys cross country team ran at Hickory Grove Golf course Tuesday night for the Oelwein Invitational.
West Delaware finished in 6th place out of 20 teams. Western Dubuque was 2nd. CP-U’s Myles Bach won the race with a time of 15:25. Individually, WD was led by senior Ben Litterer, who finished in 28th place with a career best 18:20. He was followed closely by teammate Noah Crumpton who was 33rd, running an 18:25. Freshman Blake Smith made a varsity debut finishing in 46th place with a time of 19:00. Rounding out the varsity results for the Hawks were Keegan Kolbet (47th) 19:01, Brady Carroll(50th) 19:07, Nathan Goranson(52nd) 19:08, and Isaiah Rich(53rd) 19:11.
The JV Hawks also had a strong performance, finishing in 7th place out of 19 teams. They were led by sophomore Jacob Butler who ran a career PR of 19:31 for 19th place. Freshman Jacob Wenger (31st) 19:55, Tyger Vaske(36th) 20:08, and Nicholas Stocks(41st) 20:28, all turned in nice times for the Hawks.
The Hawks will run again next Tuesday at the Wartburg College complex in Waverly.
