Numerous Mayor and City Council Seats Open on November Ballot

School board elections are now behind us, but city elections will be coming up in November.

You have until next Thursday to file to run as a candidate for mayor or city council member in your town.

The seats open in this year’s election include:

  • Manchester Mayor, along with the At-Large Council seat currently held by Ron Struble and the 2nd Ward Council seat currently held by Mary Ann Poynor
  • Colesburg Mayor, along with the two council seats currently held by Tom Forkenbrock and Rex Meyer
  • Delaware Mayor, along with the five council seats currently held by Lonny Fishler, Tim Glass, Rick Lahr, Billy Tibbott and Steve McAreavy
  • Delhi Mayor, along with the three council seats currently held by Shawn Wilson, Greg Preussner and Rick Bojorquez
  • Dundee Mayor, along with two council seats currently held by Marsha Mescher and Glenn Puffett

Other seats up for election this year in Delaware County:

  • Earlville Mayor, as well as the three council seats currently held by Chris Rude, Shannon Richardson and Dale Smock
  • Edgewood Mayor, as well as the three council seats currently held by Bruce Hemann, Andrew Lange and Steven Paul Lange
  • Greeley Mayor, along with the three council seats currently held by Kim Goranson, Michael Schmitz and Terry Kloser
  • Hopkinton Mayor, along with the three council seats currently held by Julie Davis, Janet Buckner and Katie Book
  • Ryan Mayor, along with the three council seats currently held by Wade Feldmann, Maria Gaffney and Delores Kolka

And in Masonville, the mayor’s position and three city council seats are up for election. There are currently five members on the Masonville City Council, with their terms set to expire at the end of the year. But the City of Masonville passed a resolution this summer to change to a three-member council effective in January, so there will just be three positions on the November 7th ballot.

Anyone interested in running for office should contact their county auditor’s office. The deadline to file papers is next Thursday, September 21st at 5 pm.
