GNB team members, Amy Hanna, Misty Hill, JoAnn Heffernan, Dave Smith, Karla Nefzger, Laura Kammarmeyer and Eric Anderson presented a check for $1100 to Diane Larson, Kathy Hutchinson and Sharon Heims, 4-H Food Stand Committee Members. The donation was made through matching a portion of the purchases made at the 4H food stand during the Delaware County Fair.
“The food stand is always a hit and provides an excellent learning and service project for 4H members” said Eric Anderson, Market President. This year over 5000 taco salads were made, along with 3000 fruit cups, 2500 Mr. Ribs, 2600 hamburgers and 2080 slices of cheese went on sandwiches.
None of this could happen of course without the numerous volunteers including 350 4-H members, 400 parents, 35 grillers, and the 60 food stand committee members and volunteers working hard behind the scenes. “I really like helping out at the food stand watching the club members working together,” said Laura Kammarymeyer, GO Club Coordinator, “It also gives me plenty of time to decide what I’ll have to eat at the end of my shift.” Several GNB employees helped out during the week’s lunch hours.
