Hundreds of people came out to the Manchester Whitewater Park on Saturday for Regional Medical Center’s Rubber Duck Dash & Dive and the Franklin Street Brewery’s River Runner Regatta.
Homemade cardboard boats carried passengers down the Maquoketa River in the River Runner Regatta. This year’s winners:
Best Boat – Curb Creations (for their green pontoon)
Best Dressed – The Batmobile (all dressed as superheroes)
Best Sinking – The Fury
1st Place Individual – Roger Lawrence (with his boat Hanna)
1st Place Two-Person – Spenser Vande Voorde and Whitney Honsbruch (with their boat Pocahontas)
1st Place Team – The Wedge (from Cedar Rapids)
1st Place Battle of the Boats – Wade Schaefer (with his boat Bob the Boat)
And in the Rubber Duck Dash & Dive, thousands of rubber ducks were dumped into the river for a race to the finish line, with Annette Knipper’s duck winning first place, earning her the one-thousand dollar grand prize. Second place went to Diane Klein and third place to Derrick Lindsay. The chances sold on the ducks will help RMC purchase a portable SonoSite ultrasound.
