Dyersville Mayor Not Seeking Re-election

No matter how this year’s election turns out, Dyersville will have a new mayor next year.

Mayor Dan Willenborg has announced he is not seeking re-election. Willenborg was elected as mayor two years ago after defeating then-mayor Al Haas. He had also served eight years on the Dyersville City Council.

Willenborg cited health concerns as the reason he is not running for re-election. He made the announcement at the end of Monday night’s council meeting, thanking the City, council and community for the opportunity to serve.

Anyone interested in running for Dyersville’s mayoral seat can file at Dyersville City Hall through 5 pm Thursday. That’s the deadline for all candidates wishing to run in all city elections this November.
