There is now expanded service in Delaware County for those of you needing to get to doctor appointments, meal sites and other places.
The RTA is introducing the Delaware County Connections program. The RTA, along with partners from Delaware County, were able to expand their transportation services by purchasing a handicap-accessible minivan – all thanks to a state grant. Delaware County Supervisor Shirley Helmrichs says the new van arrived a couple weeks ago.
Anyone who needs transportation to a wellness activity is welcome to use this expanded service.
Helmrichs says there has been a huge need for this kind of service and it has already been well-received.
The cost to ride is $3 in town one-way or $6.75 out of town one-way, with vouchers likely down the road.
If you need a ride, call RTA Dispatch between the hours of 5 am and 5 pm at 1-800-839-5005, where you’ll connect with a dispatcher who will help schedule your ride.
Retired Manchester Chamber Director Jack Klaus has been serving as a volunteer driver, but Helmrichs says they could use more help.
Contact the RTA or Shirley Helmrichs for more information on volunteer opportunities.
