Fayette County Man Charged with Attempted Murder

Fayette County authorities say a son has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to strangle his father.

The Sheriff’s Office says 36-year old Lonnie Davis Jr. of Clermont has been taken into custody.

They say an investigation shows Davis Jr. and his father had been in a vehicle Monday when an argument started and quickly escalated. Davis Jr. allegedly told his father he was going to kill him and dump his body in the water. He then drove out to a rural area outside Wadena, where Davis Jr. allegedly tried strangling his father, stating over and over that “he was going to be dead”.

His father recorded the attack on a recording device, which helped with the investigation.

Davis Jr. has been charged with Attempt to Commit Murder. He is being held in the Fayette County Jail. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.
