The Class 3A 8th rated West Delaware Hawks lost their first district game Friday night on the road in Marion in a tough 16-14 setback. Hawks head coach Doug Winkowitsch comments on how the game played out:
Coach Wink says his team has to learn from the loss and move on to their final contest this week at home against a winless Maquoketa squad:
The Hawks, Marion and Davenport Assumption are now tied with 5-1 records at the top of district 4. The Hawks will make the playoffs with a win or an Assumption loss Thursday night as they host Marion. WD can still claim the district title if they win Friday night and Marion loses to Assumption.
