State Qualifying Cross Country Meets took place around the state yesterday, the top three teams and 15 individuals advanced to the state meet in Fort Dodge next Saturday.
At a 3A site at Hart Ridge Golf Course outside of Manchester hosted by West Delaware:
Decorah took the girls race with 47 points finishing ahead of Anamosa who had 68, 3rd was Charles City. Independence was 10th and scoring 304 points was West Delaware with 11th place out of 12 schools.
Hawks girls coach Ben Moser talked about the meet site and shared thoughts on his squad:
On the boys side-
Decorah dominated with 42 points, Marion was 2nd with 69 and 3rd was Cedar Rapids Xavier with 88. Seventh was Anamosa, West Delaware 8th with 203 and Independence 11th.

In a Class 1A SQM in Solon-
The Central Elkader girls took first place with 69 points, Springville-Central City was 4th and North Linn 5th with 117 points, Starmont was 7th with 206 and Ed-Co 13th out of 15 complete teams. Individually in the coverage area, North Linn sophomore Hannah Bridgewater was 6th and Starmont senior Bianca Malone was 14th.
On the boys side, Bellevue won it with 23 points, Starmont was second with 105, Maquoketa Valley 4th with 157, 8th was North Linn with 256, Ed-Co was 20th and East Buchanan 22nd. Ed-Co senior Jacob Wessel placed 5th, North Linn junior Seth Boss was 11th, Starmont seniors Caleb Wittman and Mitchell Hayes finished 13th and 14th.
