The West Delaware Hawks Volleyball team improved to 25-19 with a 3-0 win over Union last night inside Seedorff Gymnasium in a Class 3A Region 5 first round contest that lasted only 52 minutes of play. The Hawks bolted out of the gates winning the first set 25-7 then held the Knights in check with wins of 25-16 and 25-19. Hawks coach Brett Mather talks about the play of his squad and the mindset going forward:
With the victory, the Hawks program has won 16 first round regional matches in a row now dating back to 2002. WD will host 3rd-ranked Waterloo Columbus Tuesday night back at home in Manchester. The Sailors cruised past South Hardin 3-0.

The postseason begins in the world of high school cross country this afternoon with start times beginning at 4pm:
West Delaware will host a 3A site at Hart Ridge Golf Course outside of Manchester. Anamosa and Independence will also be there along with nine other schools.
Western Dubuque is in a 4A meet hosted by Iowa City High.
In 2A- Cascade is at Dike- New Hartford, Beckman and Monticello travel to Iowa City Regina’s meet.
In 1A- East Buchanan, Ed-Co, Maquoketa Valley, North Linn and Starmont will be in Solon.
