West Delaware Student Expelled for Reported Gun Incident

A West Delaware student has been expelled for the remainder of the school year following a recent incident on school grounds.

Manchester Police say on Friday, September 29th, they responded to a complaint of a juvenile who may have been in possession of a firearm in the parking lot of West Delaware High School. The incident was investigated by law enforcement, and police say appropriate charges were prepared. The case has been turned over to juvenile authorities.

The West Delaware School Board held a special board meeting last week to take action on the issue. The board expelled the student from attending school and any school activities for the rest of the school year. The student, whose name is not being released, is encouraged to return to West Delaware next school year and complete requirements for graduation.

A second student involved in the incident was suspended for ten days.
