The harvest made some progress this past week.
The latest Iowa Crops and Weather Report shows 10 percent of the corn and 29 percent of soybeans have been harvested. We caught up with Charlie Wilgenbusch, who farms southwest of Manchester, last Wednesday.
Mark Francois, who farms near Dundee, told us on Friday that the harvest has been going pretty good.
Local farmer Jason Sullivan also works at Lloyd Kelchen Grain in Edgewood. He says they’ve been staying busy.
The harvest is still significantly behind the five-year average and at its slowest pace since 2009. Farmers will continue plugging away in the field, but Donna Schuman, who farms with her husband Steve near Greeley, says they’ll get a chance to rest once it’s done.
